This article explains how to enhance the security of your QR Batch account by setting up Multi-factor Authentication (MFA).
Introduction
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your QR Batch account. By enabling MFA, you ensure that even if someone obtains your password, they cannot access your account without a second form of verification. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up MFA for your account.
A. Access QR Batch Account
- Login to your QR Batch Account
- Click on Profile > Login Method
- Toggle the button to 'ON' in the Multi-Factor Authentication section
B. MFA Method — Email
If you choose the Email method, you'll receive the code in the inbox of your registered email address associated with QR Batch. Here's how to set it up:
- Click on Email > Send Code
- Check your email inbox for an email containing the verification code
- Enter the verification code in the MFA setup
- Click on Verify
After verification, you will receive 10 backup codes. These single-use codes can be used if you are unable to access the multi-factor authentication code, such as when you cannot access your email. It is crucial to save these codes and store them in a secure location, as they will not be displayed again.
After completing the above steps, your MFA setup with Get Code by Email is complete. Each time you login to your QR Batch account you'll receive a code on your email which has to be entered for logging in to your account.
C. MFA Method — Authenticator App
If you choose the Authenticator App method, you'll get the code in an Authenticator mobile application on your smartphone that was used during setup.
By default, you will be prompted to use the Google Authenticator application (available on both Google Play and App Store). However, you can choose from any of these supported authenticator apps.
Here's how you can setup this MFA method:
- Click on the Authenticator App button
- You'll now need to download the Google Authenticator mobile to proceed or here's the list of the supported apps: Authenticator Apps
- After downloading the Google Authentication application, open it, and click on the '+' icon in the bottom right corner > click on Scan a QR Code. This will activate the camera and the scanning feature
- Scan the QR Code displayed on the computer screen with the authenticator app
- An entry with the name 'QR Batch' will be added to the application and you'll see a code that updates with time
- Enter the current code displayed in the Authenticator app to complete the setup and click on Verify
- Download or copy your Backup Codes and your set up is complete
Now, each time you login to your QR Batch account you'll need to enter the current code displayed in the Authenticator App.
D. Disable/Edit MFA
You can either disable MFA (by toggling the button to 'OFF') or change the method by clicking the Edit icon in the MFA section
